Touchpoint teledoula services

Woman on Computer

A skilled doula whenever you need one.

We know that many hospital administrations have restricted visitor access as we all work together to get a handle on this global pandemic. This can be pretty worrying for families expecting babies in the near future. There are a LOT of unanswered questions. One of those questions is "Will I be able to have my doula?" This is a crucial question! the answer is...maybe. It will depend on when and where you deliver. We are hoping to ease that uncertainty with our TouchPoint program.

Doulas are NOT a luxury service. It's unfortunate that many administrators and insurers fail to see the very real benefits doulas provide- which leads to families having to come up with the money to pay one out of pocket. It's a lot of skilled time, and that adds up fast. Doula fees range from $1200-2700 in our area, with some doulas available to low-income families in special programs like the Portland Doula Project, which relies on volunteers. While this is necessary in our climate for families that benefit most from access to the support, and advocacy that doulas provide, ultimately we believe doulas should be paid for their time and skills, and ideally by the same programs the pay providers from other healthcare sectors.

We are advocating hard for insurance companies and state-funded healthcare programs to cover the cost of birth & postpartum doulas. In the meantime, we came up with an alternative for families who can't swing the cost. TouchPoint TeleDoula services! This is a lower-cost option that provides the benefit of skilled support, with a reduced cost burden on families.

We started offering virtual doula services when one of our doulas was worried they'd miss a birth, due to the extreme illness of the birthing parent. To combat the separation, the TouchPoint program was born. We have been happily offering virtual doula services since September of 2019.
